Possible Code Name for Next Mac Pro Found in OS X El Capitan

The most powerful computer offered by Apple, the Mac Pro, has been left without an updated version since 2013. However, that might not remain the case for long, judging from some intriguing code just discovered in OS X El Capitan, the latest version of the Mac operating system.

Pike’s Universum has come across a new Mac code name, AAPLJ951, within the OS. No explicit official reference to the specific Mac model given this code name has been found; still, Pike observes the similarity to the current Mac Pro’s code name AAPLJ90 and speculates that the new name could therefore refer to a new Mac Pro.

MacRumors adds that such a product could use Xeon-branded Broadwell EP chips and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, among numerous other features and enhancements. As for when the next Mac Pro will arrive – don’t be afraid to start the guessing game now…
