EA’s Chief Competition Officer Peter Moore has expressed excitement over the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio, insisting that these upgrades are “absolutely” beneficial for the games industry.
IGN reports that, on the latest episode of its long-form interview show IGN Unfiltered, Moore cited “huge excitement the moment they were announced”, adding with enthusiasm that Sony and Microsoft have “taken what they needed to do whether it’s 4K… to keep the platform fresh for technology that’s moving faster than the archaic nature of a 10-year piece of hardware cycle”.
On this episode, to be aired next Tuesday, Moore also reaffirmed that EA is currently working on content for both of these stop-gap consoles. He said that the emergence of these mid-cycle refreshes “certainly obviously ups the technological output”, which EA’s development teams “love” seeing.
The PlayStation 4 Neo looks likely to be publicly shown off for the first time on September 7. Sony has previously announced the console, but provided few details about its capabilities.
