Ralph Fiennes Plays Richard III in New Shakespeare Short

Ralph Fiennes, currently best known on US shores for his role as M in the last two Bond movies, is showing off his chops for bringing Shakespearean verse to life in a new short for The Guardian.

At the London-based Almeida Theatre, Fiennes is following Benedict Cumberbatch in playing the twisted characterization of Richard III made well-known by the William Shakespeare play that takes the fourteenth century English kingā€™s name. In the new video short on The Guardianā€™s website, Fiennes, playing the same character, recites a soliloquy from the earlier Shakespeare play Henry VI, Part III.

While Fiennes will be performing in director Rupert Gooldā€™s production of Richard III at the Almeida until August 6, you wonā€™t need to be in London soon to see the show ā€“ as, in partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment, it will be broadcast live to cinemas globally on July 21.

To learn of the nearest venue to you that will be screening it, just head over to the Almeida Theatre Live website. Before that, though, why not enjoy a taster of Fiennesā€™ Richard III thanks to The Guardian?
