Could a red iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus really be released today?

Two red iPhones are displayed, one slightly in front of the other. The rear cameras and Apple logos are visible. The red iPhone 8 in the foreground has a single camera lens, while the iPhone 8 Plus in the background boasts a dual camera setup. Both feature a matte finish and were released today.

Update: Apple has now released the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition.

According to a memo Virgin Mobile sent to its employees, Apple is launching a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus this week. The brand new phone could even be launching as early as today!

In the memo, Virgin Mobile states they will be adding the new smartphone models to their inventory system from today, April 9. This will coincide with a press release launch announcement from Apple, however, as the memo mentions pre-orders it is unlikely the phone will be available immediately.

Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang started rumors about new red-colored iPhone, stating that they would likely debut at WWDC 2018 in Early June. Steve Hemmerstoffer, who often leaks mobile-related announcements, also suggested a red iPhone will hit shelves very soon. But, that’s not all. Mark Gurman, a very reliable Bloomberg News reporter, also mentioned the rumor in a Tweet yesterday.

Another recent report is also claiming Apple will unveil a gold iPhone X in the near future. This is not mentioned in the Virgin Mobile memo, so it is likely this will follow the release of the red iPhone and we are unlikely to see it in stores this week.

Keep your eyes peeled for Apple’s press release!
