Social network Reddit has launched an updated iOS app that includes new features to improve moderation and communication, developed from feedback.
For developers, Mod Mode, Mod Queue, Modmail 2, and Mod Management are some of the new features which are now accessible from the mobile app, having previously been available on the main website exclusively.
A new Theater Mode has also been added, giving users the ability to view visual content, like GIFs, photos and videos, in a new distraction-free environment.
Speaking of the new app, Reddit said: “While much of the magic of Reddit is in the comments and text-based discussions, Reddit is also home to some of the best visual content on the internet—from viral videos and humorous reaction gifs to original nature photography and pictures of evil buildings. Now, redditors can use theater mode to get a visual-first experience of their favorite communities.”
The updated app also includes live comments, allowing you to see discussions happen in real time, and web pages will now open through Safari View Controller rather than a separate Reddit browser, which some users considered inferior.
