PC Music producer Danny L Harle and Canadian dance-pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen have teamed up for what, unsurprisingly given the past material of both collaborators, is a delicious and obviously chart-friendly slice of dance music. And there’s a wonderfully quirky video to go with it…
Carly Rae Jepsen is now thoroughly experienced in crafting exhilaratingly happy love songs – and she continues in a similar vein with “Super Natural”. And, while the melody is very much in the darker realm of techno-pop, it genuinely goes well with Jepsen’s upbeat vocals.
Then there’s the video. Featuring Jepsen turning up to be shown around what looks like a pretty swish property by Harle, here playing a real estate agent, it all looks very fun and summery. In fact, with the green juice and thermostats that appear, you might feel like someone is trying to sell you something – but relax, you won’t see any genuine brand names anywhere. The message is simply to dance!
And dance you will – Harle has brought Jepsen into exciting new territory, even if some listeners might still consider the resulting single somewhat derivative by the standards of much other work in the dance genre.
