REVIEW: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (iOS)

Now, this is a surprise. While we’d long known that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was heading to consoles and PC, we hadn’t realized that an iOS version was even in the works before its arrival in the App Store this week. Thankfully, it’s fun to play in that typical LEGO game way.

The game basically recreates the story and characters of the blockbuster movie in virtual LEGO bricks – and, if you’ve played any of the previous LEGO games also developed by TT Games, you’ll feel in very familiar territory as soon as you start playing this one. There are lots of bricks to collect, tricky puzzles to figure out and little side-missions to follow – and, actually, that’s part of the problem…

TT Games have packed a truckload of challenges into this game – to the extent that, even with only the first chapter being offered for free, the charge for unlocking the remaining eight chapters could still look like an absolute bargain. However, that’s assuming you don’t find the core gameplay too repetitive after having played this title’s LEGO-branded predecessors. A rehash, then, but a lovable one all the same.
