REVIEW: Selena Gomez – Revival (Deluxe)

When she’s not taking a selfie with the iPhone 6S – yes, that was her you saw in that TV advert – Selena Gomez obviously likes to make music. Revival is actually only her second solo studio album, but we like its strong electronic dance flavor – and the deluxe version comes with three extra tracks.

As the lyrics of “Same Old Love” and “Sober” make clear, Ms Gomez has had her heart broken – but she’s also still up for fun and inviting us to join her. This is especially clear with the saucy “Hands to Myself” and, possibly our personal favorite on the album, “Me & the Rhythm” – where the bleep-meter is turned up to eleven and Gomez joyously tells us that “all I need is the rhythm”.

There’s also a nice variety to the bonus tracks on the deluxe release now available on iTunes. It is this version of the album that you can read more about in the new issue of AppleMagazine released today – you can read that issue on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch by subscribing through our app.
