As well as the ability to talk, text and play Snake, the Nokia 3310 has now been given the power of 3G meaning that it can use a handful of apps like Facebook, Twitter and Skype.
The addition of 3G means that Nokia has made the handset slightly larger, adding precisely 13.29% more volume, so that it has been ergonomically redesigned to allow for more space between buttons, making typing more comfortable.

One disadvantage with the addition of 3G is that battery life has been significantly reduced from an outstanding 22.1 hours of talk time to only 6.5 hours. However, 3G Nokia users will get up to 27 days of standby time as opposed to 25.3 days for those still on 2G.
“The addition of 3G data connectivity brings this popular phone to even more fans around the world,” HMD wrote in a press release. “The Nokia 3310 3G combines the talk and text appeal of the current model with a 3G data connection, meaning you can now enjoy the classic across more countries.”
The 3G version of the phone is slightly more expensive at $69 vs $49 for the 2G model. It will be rolling out globally from mid-October, firstly to Australia before it makes its way further afield.
