Rumor: New iMac to be sold in five color options

Apple will release its next iMac in five different colors, according to leaker Jon Prosser.

The company is widely expected to overhaul the design of its popular all-in-one desktop Mac this year and introduce a new M1 chip for faster processing speeds, and now leaker Jon Prosser has suggested that the model will mirror the fourth-generation iPad Air in colors.

That could mean the iMac would be available in Silver, Space Gray, Green, Blue, and Rose Gold for the first time, which would help Apple to capitalize on nostalgia of its original iMac line, when the plastic-coated machine was sold in colors such as strawberry and tangerine.

As well as an M1 processor and a new color palette, Apple is expected to reduce the size of the bezels on the iMac, whilst the Mac Pro will also be refreshed and sport a design that’s half the size of the current model, offering a more affordable and portable professional PC.

Other changes coming to the Mac this year include a redesigned MacBook Pro, which could see Apple scrap the controversial Touch Bar and reintroduce HDMI and SD card reader ports.
