Safari hits 1 billion users around the world, Chrome still on top

Appleโ€™s Safari web browser is now being used by more than a billion users around the world.

Thatโ€™s according to data from AtlasVPN, which has looked at the most popular browsers around the world. Apple has reached the one billion milestone as itโ€™s the default browser for iPhones, iPads, and Macs, putting it in the hands of billions of consumers around the world.

Right now, an estimated 1,006,232,879 users use Safari to browse the web, making it the second most popular browser around the world. Google Chrome remains the most popular browser in the world, with an estimated 3.3 billion users. Edge, on the other hand, Microsoftโ€™s successor to Internet Explorer, has also seen growth in recent years, and clocks in at 212 million users.

Firefox comes in fourth place with 179 million users, whilst Samsung Internet, an app developed for Samsung smartphones and tablets, has just under 150 million worldwide users.

Although Safari is the second most popular browser, itโ€™s not the second most popular desktop browser โ€“ Google Chrome remains the most popular, but Microsoft Edge overtook Apple to become the second-most popular in the world, thanks to it being the default on all Windows PCs.
