Samsung Galaxy S8 Reportedly to Get Dual-Lens Rear Camera

Likely mindful that its arch rival in the smartphone market, Apple, is believed to be bringing a dual-lens camera to the iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung could integrate a similar setup in its Galaxy S8 handset.

SamMobile reports that, according to its own source on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, Samsung is working on a dual-lens camera for the rear of the Galaxy S8 – which, recent tradition suggests, should get its retail release early next year. This Weibo source also runs the Chinese version of SamMobile.

While the South Korean company will apparently stick to a 12-megapixel sensor for the primary camera, there will also be a 13-megapixel secondary sensor which should help the phone’s users to capture photos with better depth-of-field – or bokeh, to use a more common term – effects.

A week on Wednesday, Apple will hold an event where it is expected to officially take the veil off the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. We don’t doubt that Samsung will be taking notes on whatever features Apple shows off for the larger Plus model’s dual-lens camera. Your move first, though, Apple…
