Samsung Gear S2 to Get iOS Compatibility Later This Month

Samsung’s Apple Watch rival, the smartwatch Gear S2, will reportedly become compatible with iOS devices upon the release of a new Gear Manager app for the Apple platform later this month.

The South Korean company had previously confirmed, at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, that iOS support would come for the Gear S2 later this year. Samsung stopped short of giving a more precise date; however, SamMobile reports that this support seems set to arrive before March is out.

The news site claims that this is allegedly when both the smartwatch itself will receive an update and the Gear Manager app for iOS will be released. It remains unclear what the full gamut of supported features will be; the mobile payments service Samsung Pay, for example, evidently would not be available with a Gear S2 that is not paired to a Samsung smartphone.
