The mobile payments system Samsung Pay has been hugely successful so far in its earliest market, South Korea, where over 80,000 credit and check cards were registered in the first five days post-launch. Now, Samsung’s US arm has just announced its beta program for Samsung Pay in this country.
Samsung has posted further details of the program and the application process for joining it on the US section of its website. Eligibility for beta testing will be restricted to users of the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, pictured above, Galaxy S6 Edge + or Galaxy Note 5. Another requirement is an active Samsung Account and a qualifying Bank of America, MasterCard, Visa or US Bank Visa credit or debit card.
Samsung Pay will get its full US launch on September 28, and it will be interesting to see how the South Korean tech giant fares against Apple in the mobile payments arena, where Apple Pay is already flourishing in the US and UK.
