Samsung Launches Beta Program for Gear S2’s iOS Support

It was back in January that Samsung announced that its Gear S2 smartwatch was set to become compatible with iOS devices – and the firm has just launched a beta program for this support.

This program will run from today until Monday, September 19 and allow South Korea-based users of the Gear S2, Gear S2 Classic and Gear Fit 2 wearables to test the upcoming Gear iOS app. These users will also need an Apple ID and an iPhone 5 or later on at least iOS 8.4.

Screenshots leaked in April suggest that the app will be capable of sending notifications to any of these Samsung wearables and managing apps from the Gear store. However, Samsung has not indicated when this Gear iOS support should emerge from beta and become available to the wider public around the world.
