Samsung Rumored To Launch “Galaxy S3 Mini” On October 11th

According to Unwiredview.com, Samsung sent invitations to the press this week for an Oct. 11th event that they are holding. The invitations were titled “how big small can be,” which gives some credibility to the rumor that Samsung is planning to unveil a new Galaxy S III Mini.

The Galaxy S III is currently Samsung’s android flagship smartphone which sports a 4.8-inch display. Apple decided to include a 4 inch display with the new iPhone 5, a half inch upgrade form the 4S. Some have complained the 4.8 inch display on the current S III model is too large.

Even though we have seen a Samsung smear campaign against the iPhone 5 lately, the company seems to be conceding the display on the S III might be a bit much.

Other rumors that have popped up on the net about the miniature S III model include a 5-megapixel camera, dual-core processor, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The invitation to the press event  included a large S in the background, which further indicates a big announcement geared towards Samsung’s Galaxy S brand.

This summer Samsung climbed to the top of the smartphone market with the release of the Galaxy S III. Apple may have seen the 4S dethroned over the summer, but last month the iPhone 5 sold five million units in the first three days. How long can Samsung hold on?
