Samsung to Release Galaxy S8 in 5.7- and 6.2-Inch Sizes?

Samsung might have come across a new idea for limiting the damage from the Galaxy Note 7’s withdrawal: release the upcoming Galaxy S8 in not only the familiar 5.7-inch size, but also a 6.2-inch variant that will additionally be even larger than the Note 7’s 5.7-inch display.

The Korean website The Investor reports this news, citing the local news outlet The Bell. This would be a big step for Samsung – as, while this year’s Galaxy S7 Edge, pictured above, does sport a 5.7-inch screen, its smaller counterpart, the Galaxy S7, measures a much smaller 5.1 inches in display size.

And, whereas that phone has a planar body, both of the S8 models will have curved screens, The Bell also reveals. The S7 Edge has a curved display, which likely helps to explain the further claim that the new 6.2-inch phone will use a different naming scheme likely including the word “plus”.

In its report, The Investor made no mention of when these S8 handsets will be released – but, judging from recent tradition with the S series, March or April next year looks likely.
