Satechi Announces Type-C USB Hub and Card Reader for MacBook

For users of the 12-inch MacBook, Satechi has revealed two exciting new Type-C USB products at the Consumer Electronics Show today: a refreshed Pass Through Hub and new Micro/SD Card Reader.

The Hub can be used to replace a Type-C USB port with two USB 3.0 ports alongside SD and Micro SD card slots. This accessory allows the MacBook to be charged while it continues to be used with other USB add-ons ā€“ or, indeed, to read or write to an SD or Micro SD card.

While that dongle updated an existing product, Satechi also announced a whole new product: the Micro/SD Card Reader. A less expensive alternative to the Hub if using storage cards is your only concern, this little reader includes SD and Micro SD card slots which can be used simultaneously.

Both products include the color options of space grey, silver or gold. The Hub is currently available for $39.99, while MacRumors reports that the Reader will be released in ā€œearly Januaryā€.
