Mac owners who are part of Apple’s beta testing program can now try out the second beta version of OS X 10.11.4. This will be the fourth major release of the El Capitan version of the Mac operating system.
Members of the program, which non-members can join by signing up on Apple’s beta testing website, can download the new beta through Software Update in the Mac App Store. They could find themselves pretty busy, as OS X 10.11.3 also remains in public beta testing – though it could be publicly issued soon.
MacRumors observes that both of these in-the-works versions of El Capitan seem to be largely concerned with subtle bug fixes, security enhancements and performance tweaks, rather than major new features. OS X 10.11.4 does, however, add support for two appreciable functions: Live Photos in the Messaging app and password protection of individual notes in the Notes app.
