Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Official Trailer

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has finally hit theaters on September 3, 2021, and people are already wondering when it will be released on Disney+. Namely, during the pandemic, Disney has released its movies in theaters and on Disney+ practically simultaneously, a fate which saw the likes of MulanCruella and Black Widow being available for streaming even before people got the chance to see the movies in theaters. And although Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit Disney+ rather soon, it won’t share the same fate as the above-listed movies. Namely, as Disney officially confirmed, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will first have a 45-day exclusive theater first release before being available on the streaming platform owned by the House of the Mouse.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) newest installment introduced us to the martial arts superhero Shang-Chi and his lore to the larger cinematic universe, connecting it to both the Avengers, but also Iron Man 3, the movie which – as it seemed then – introduced the Mandarin to the MCU.

The official press release states the following: Marvel Studios ‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.”

The movie has, meanwhile, received very positive reactions from both fans and critics. The critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes summarized the movie like this: “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings isn’t entirely free of Marvel’s familiar formula, but this exciting origin story expands the MCU in more ways than one.” At the same time, the public said the following: “Shang-Chi covers new cultural ground for the MCU without losing any of the action, comedy, and emotion Marvel’s movies are known for.”

There is no doubt that the MCU has another his with Shang-Chi and if you haven’t already seen it in theaters, you’ll be able to stream it from your homes in the second half of October.
