The Siri Speaker could be making its way to your home this year

Apple have finally begun manufacturing the long awaited Siri Speaker with many hoping that it will debut at this year’s WWDC in June.

Sources from Bloomberg have stated that the Apple speaker will differ from others on the market in that it will bring “virtual surround sound technology” and deep integration with the company’s current lineup. Prototype testing of the Siri Speaker began a few months ago and the responsibility for manufacturing lies with the same company behind Apple’s AirPods.

The audio component of the Speaker is what Apple hopes will give it the competitive edge. The speakers are louder and “reproduce sound more crisply” than its rivals and Apple have even considered measuring room acoustics to adjust sound levels.

With Apple now joining the battle for the best smart home speaker, different companies are focusing on different advantages. Although the Amazon Echo and Google Home have been hugely popular for some time, new competitors such as the Essential Home show that the market is still thriving. By bringing their own smart home speaker into the market, Apple will be able to integrate it within their own ecosystem of services.

HomeKit is already a significant addition to this ecosystem but a smart speaker will bring Siri into the home. What’s more, integrating the Speaker into HomeKit and Apple Music will undoubtedly make it a more attractive option compared to its competitors.

Different rumors have been heating up about the Speaker, but you can read all about them all here.
