Skype iOS App Gets Better Multitasking, New Data Detectors

Multitasking seems to be getting even easier on iOS devices. After recently bringing Slide Over and Split View to its iPad app, Skype has today introduced some easily appreciable new features to both the iPhone and iPad apps, including additional intuitive multitasking functions.

Now, should you have to briefly leave a Skype audio or video chat to tend to your instant messages or contact list, you can keep that call active and, once you’re ready to resume conversation, simply tap an “active call” button. If you’re instead chatting by instant message, you will receive on-screen notification of unread messages and can simply tap ‘back’ to read them.

Phone numbers, addresses, times and dates are also now highlighted within the app. This indicates that you can tap the text to start an action; for example, an address can bring up its location in Apple Maps, while a phone number will produce the Skype dialpad for immediate calling.
