Solar-Powered Headphones on the Way?

Few mobile devices offer a great deal of battery life but a new Kickstarter campaign is being launched to allow wireless headphone owners to spend more time away from the plug socket. New wireless headphones called Helios have been designed to make use of the sun rays through a film solar panel that is built into them. The panel is found on the top of the headset and it’s said that 30 minutes of sunlight will offer an hour of playtime.

Should Helios owners wish to charge their headphones in a more conventional manner they will be able to do so via USB. The Kickstarter campaign was launched on Monday by French company EXOD, who are hoping to raise £50,000 or around $78,000 within just forty days. The headphones allow users to make wireless phone calls via Bluetooth 4.0. The campaign comes after the company said that users had grown tired of seeing their wireless devices running out of charge prematurely, saying that wireless technology “craves large amounts of energy” despite offering “great comfort of mobility and freedom”.
