Perhaps due to the increased competition from smartphone cameras, a impressive standard of stand-alone digital cameras can now be found at a wide range of price points. Here are some of our favorite low price digital cameras in the compact – or “point and shoot” – category.
Canon Powershot N2
Of course, with a smartphone, you can easily take a photo – whether it’s of the world you can personally see, or a selfie – before posting it to social media. Well, you can actually do all of that with the Canon Powershot N2, too. We particularly like the viewfinder which can be turned on its hinge for selfies.
Nikon COOLPIX L31
Sadly, the Nixon COOLPIX L31 hasn’t been designed for selfies, but it’s still a gorgeous little thing, as you can see from the picture above. The 16.1-megapixel CCD image sensor means that photos shouldn’t be lacking in crisp detail, while 720p HD video can also easily be captured.
Polaroid iF045
Available in black, blue and pleasingly vibrant orange, the Polaroid iF045 features a dual screen design that makes taking selfies even easier than it can be with the Canon Powershot N2. It’s also waterproof up to 10 feet or 3 meters, making it ideal to take with you during casual swimming.
PYRUS Double Screen Waterproof
As the name makes clear enough, the PYRUS Double Screen Waterproof, too, is waterproof. Shooting photos and video under water is possible – though keep in mind that you will need a MicroSD card in order to use the camera at all. Thankfully, MicroSD cards can come very cheap these days.
