SONIC Drive-In to Offer Mario & Luigi Toys with Kids Meals

The world’s favorite cartoon plumber Mario has teamed up with his blue rival Sonic the Hedgehog before, but he’s now joining a very different Sonic: the restaurant chain SONIC Drive-In! For over two months, a toy inspired by Mario’s world will be included with each Wacky Pack kids meal.

The promotion will run from tomorrow – April 19 – until June 30, during which time each Wacky Pack will come with a colorful toy based on the Nintendo 3DS game Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Popular items such as hot dogs, chicken strips and juice come as standard in every Wacky Pack.

Referring to the role-playing adventure, Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, has enthused that “Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam combines the charming world of Mario & Luigi with the colorful Paper Mario universe,” adding: “SONIC Drive-In is the ideal location to premiere the very first toys based on this unique collaboration.”

There are five toys in total – including a wheel-based Mario toy that can race across the room, a spinning top featuring Paper Mario and Luigi, and even two toys with the folded-up paper appearance of the game’s paper-craft battles. There are 3,500 SONIC Drive-In outlets.
