The next games console that Sony announces could be not the PlayStation 5, but instead a more powerful revision of the PlayStation 4, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Citing āpeople familiar with the matterā, the news outlet says that Sony intends to release such a unit that can āhandle higher-end gaming experiences, including virtual realityā. However, Sony will also continue producing the already available version of its hugely popular console.
One of the sources is said to have revealed that, though the current and new PlayStation 4 models will be compatible with the same games, better graphics and power will be available only on the new console.
Apparently, the enhanced PlayStation 4, which will be capable of handling ultra-high-definition resolution graphics, is set to be announced ahead of the scheduled October release of the virtual reality headset the PlayStation VR, which the new console will also provide more power for.
