‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ trailer finally arrives

After much (un)necessary waiting, Marvel and Sony have finally released the first official teaser trailer for this winter’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, with the film hitting theaters on December 17, 2021. You can check it out for yourselves:

The official trailer came out just days after a trailer was reportedly leaked online but quickly deleted, leaving fans not only confused but craving for an actual trailer that would confirm a lot of the ongoing fan theories. And although this trailer does focus primarily on Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch, i.e. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, respectively, it does reveal several interesting details.

First of all, the concept of the Multiverse is once again officially reaffirmed, opening the door for tons of new crossovers in the future, even the possibility of bringing some characters back into the game. This trailer also gave us a first look at Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, probably the best on-screen Spider-Man villain ever since Sam Raimi’s adaptations hit the big screens. We’ve also seen shots of Jamie Foxx’s Electro’s powers as well as a tease of the Green Goblin, who is going to be played by Willem Dafoe once again.

Sadly, still no news about Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, or Emma Stone, but this concept heavily hints at the inclusion of – at least – the first two names on this list.

As Sanford Panitch, president of Sony’s Motion Picture Group, said: “There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more, will be revealed. The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin [Feige] There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There are lots of opportunities, I think, that is going to happen.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to be released exclusively in theaters (well, a streaming release will surely follow, but not as quickly as it was the case with some earlier movies) and we just hope that the December 17 release date doesn’t get pushed back.
