Sporcle Releases “Badly Drawn Movies,” Sequel to Hit Guessing Game

BadlyDrawnMoviesPictureA while back we did a small expose in the magazine about a brand new addition to the app store, “Badly Drawn Faces.” The creation, from developer Sporcle, was a riot of a guessing game. Your job was to guess famous figures from “not-so-expertly” drawn clues. An excitable Narwahl, some really clever drawings, and a plethora of puzzles made Badly Drawn Faces a smash hit, and earned it a spot on the featured section of the App Store for a week or so. Sporcle released a few updates for the game, and we all assumed that we would see a few purchaseable packages by the end of it all. What we didn’t expect to see was an entirely new game.

That’s just what Sporcle is giving us though. Apparently the company has been working in secret on a sequel to its hit guessing game. It’s not just faces you’ll be tasked with deciphering this time either, but rather, entire films. “Badly Drawn Movies” employs the same gameplay, the same crude drawings, and the same excitable Narwahl. This time, though, as the name suggests, you’ll be guessing movie titles. It sounds a bit harder than just guessing faces, but some of these films are so iconic that even the most sheltered moviegoers will immediately know what they are.

This game has just as much charm as its predecessor and it’s going to provide you with hours of guessing fun. Challenge yourself and your friends; this is a great party game. Don’t feel too bad if you get stumped, though; there are special hints you can “purchase” with fish you collect throughout the puzzles (just like in the first game). Badly Drawn Movies can be had right now for the low low price of 0.99 USD from the App Store, but this sale is only for a limited time.
