Starbucks iOS App Now Using 3D Touch for Faster Ordering

Coffeehouse giant Starbucks’ iOS app has long been useful for making quick coffee orders at thousands of the chain’s outlets in the US. Now, those orders can be even faster, as the company has updated its iOS app to make use of the Quick Actions feature of 3D Touch on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

As pointed out by 9to5Mac, it is now possible to firmly press the Starbucks app icon to produce a menu through which many of the app’s core functions can be activated. These functions, as is clear in the screenshot above, are ‘Pay’, ‘Reload Card’, ‘Order’ and ‘Nearby Stores’.

This means that, whenever you are out and about and have a hankering for a coffee, you can whip out your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus and bring up this menu to first locate the closest Starbucks outlet, then place an order for your favored drink, and finally pay for it – all without opening the app in the conventional fashion. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
