If you've been waiting for The Hunger Games to be released in iTunes, you're not the only one. It was just released yesterday and is already the number one movie download. But that's the type of thing we can expect from young adult novels turned movies, such as Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.
Based on the young adult novel of the same name, The Hunger Games focuses on the post-Apocalyptic Capitol of Panem that holds “the hunger games,” forcing one teenage girl and one teenage boy to fight to the death of one of them. Katniss volunteers to fight in place of her younger sister who was selected by lottery, pitting her up against a baker's son, Peeta, who once helped her and her family out by giving them bread when they were starving. In a pre-fight interview, he lets it slip that he's in love with her, but she believes it to be a play to get people on his side and take her off her game.
With the $19.99 download price on iTunes, you get a great pack of extras. Included in the purchase price are:
- Stylist Challenges and Fashion Galleries
- Learn about the Districts and Tributes
- Interactive Compendium
- The World is Watching: Making the Hunger Games
- Featurettes covering Visual Artwork and Weapons from the film
You can either fight to reserve a copy of The Hunger Games at Red Box, or you can just pony up the $19.99 and buy it for the extras. It can also be rented for $4.99, so either way to spend a dollar at Red Box, or pay more.
