Apple has announced its new Back to School promotion in the United States and is now offering a free pair of AirPods when you buy a new Mac or iPad during the promo season.

In a change from its usual Back to School deal – which offered customers a free pair of Beats headphones depending on how much they spent – AirPods are now the freebie, alongside a generous discount on a new iPad or Mac. Users will be credited with a $159 voucher when they buy a new MacBook or iPad, which will pay for a pair of AirPods. Alternatively, they can choose AirPods with a Charging Case or AirPods Pro for a $40/$90 upgrade fee.

“Qualified Purchasers can receive Promotion Savings when they purchase an eligible Mac or eligible iPad with AirPods at a Qualifying Location,” Apple says on its website. “Only one Promotion Product per eligible Mac or eligible iPad per Qualified Purchaser. Offer subject to availability. While supplies last. Subject to terms and conditions herein.

The free AirPods promotion is in addition to the usual discounts Apple offers for college students, educational teachers, and their faculty. Right now, the promotion applies to the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iMac Pro, as well as the iPad Pro and iPad Air.

The iMac Pro, Mac Pro, and Mac mini are not included in the deal, nor is the iPad mini device.

To celebrate the launch of the new promotion, Apple is also offering 20% off AppleCare+ for students, and consumers can put their devices on 0% interest if they have an Apple Card.

This offer is available on the Apple website and in Apple retail stores across the United States for the next month or so, so grab your new devices now to avoid disappointment.
