Stunning iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini announced, starting from $699

Apple has announced the all-new 5G-capable iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, in what the company calls a “new era for the world’s best smartphone.”

Sporting an all-new design that is inspired by the iPad Pro and the iPhone 4, both models offer edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR displays which are more immersive than ever before.

Apple has also introduced a new Ceramic Shield front cover, which makes the iPhone 12 the most durable iPhone ever made. The company says that, if you were to drop your iPhone 12 on the ground, the screen would be four times less likely to break than previous generations.

Both iPhones come with Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip, first introduced last month as part of the iPad Air relaunch. The phones also sport a new dual-camera system, which takes photography on the entry-level devices to new heights, whilst MagSafe has made its way to iPhone, offering new wireless charging and accessorising options, via the magic of magnets.

Apple is launching the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in new color options, including black, white, green, blue, and red, and they’re available to preorder from Friday. Apple will begin shipping the iPhone 12 on October 23, and the iPhone 12 mini will ship from November 13.

Speaking of the new phones, Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “The arrival of 5G marks the beginning of a new era for iPhone and we’re thrilled to bring these impressive new capabilities to our customers with iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. We’re once again pushing the boundaries to deliver incredible computational photography advancements, Super Retina XDR displays, and the biggest leap in durability in iPhone history with the new Ceramic Shield front cover.

“Available in two great sizes, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini take design to a new level in a new form factor that’s as beautiful as it is durable, and makes it easier than ever for customers to find the perfect iPhone to fit their lifestyle.”
