Sundance Film Festival Lands Ashton Kutcher’s Steve Jobs Film

All of us Apple aficionados have been waiting for a shot at seeing one oft he two Steve Jobs films that have been in the works since after his passing just over a year ago. One is based on the Walter Isaacson biography, and the other stars Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher. Those who are lucky enough to get tickets to the Sundance Film Festival next month will be the first to get a shot at the Kutcher film.

Variety has announced the lineup of films for the festival, and the lineup places the Kutcher film, directed by Joshua Michael Stern, as showing on closing night, January 27. The Jobs biopic will feature Kutcher in the title role, and will have Josh Gad playing Steve “The Woz” Wozniak, Dermot Mulroney as Mike Markkula, Matthew Modine as John Sculley, J.K. Simmons as Arthur Rock, Lukas Haas as Daniel Kottke, and Gile Matthey as Jonathan Ive.

No announcement has been made as to when Jobs will premiere in regular theaters, and that’s the killer of this announcement. While certainly being one of the more premiere film festivals, Park City, Utah’s Sundance Film Festival will still only reach a small section of the people who are waiting to see this film.

You can bet tickets to see this film will be a hot item, and obtaining them isn’t an easy process. To get advance individual tickets, you need to register online and hope that you will randomly selected to receive a half-hour timeslot in which to purchase the ticket. If you don’t score this way, you can also be on a waitlist or hope there will be leftover tickets for purchase the day the film is shown. Find more information at the Sundance website.
