Super Mario Run to Reach iPhone and iPad on December 15

We’ve long known that Super Mario Run is on the way to iPhone and iPad – and, today, Nintendo has announced that the game will be released on December 15.

The game will be released on that date “in United States time zones”, Nintendo explains on its website. While it will be available to download free of charge, only limited elements of the three game modes will be playable without paying a one-time fee of $9.99 for unlimited access.

Super Mario Run was introduced by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto at Apple’s media event on September 7. While the gameplay sees Mario automatically running forward, the player can tap a single finger to enable Mario to jump over obstacles, collect coins, avoid enemies and more.

Super Mario Run, which will be compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices on iOS 8 or later, will arrive in 151 countries and regions starting on December 15.

If you are among the many eagerly anticipating the game, you can head to its listing in the App Store to sign up to be notified when it becomes available. Nonetheless, with the news today, a lot of the mystery that had surrounded Super Mario Run and its impending arrival has now been cleared.
