Teardowns show 14-inch MacBook Pro internals

Early teardowns have shown off what the new 14-inch MacBook Pro looks like inside.

u/the_Ex_Lurker from Reddit has shown off the internals of the new MacBook Pro, using his iFixit kit to unlock the bottom of the new device. Some of the key points raised were:

  • The opening process is the same as the 2016-2021 MacBook Pro range

  • Apple uses pentalobe screws and clips which must be manually popped before opening.

  • Apple has replaced the glued-in battery making battery replacement much easier.
  • The new black keyboard deck is still part of the unibody.

  • I/O ports (including MagSafe) seem to be modular and easy to replace

  • 14” M1 Pro gets a dual-fan thermal system like the 4-port 13”
