Teen Comedy The DUFF Now Available on iTunes

Mae Whitman, a regular in the NBC family drama series Parenthood, takes the leading role in The DUFF, a teen comedy movie that has just become available through iTunes. Based on a novel scribed by Kody Keplinger, it follows Atlanta teenager Bianca Piper as she struggles to shake off her tag as ‘the DUFF’ – the ‘Designated Ugly Fat Friend’ – of her social group at high school.

Bianca – who is actually much younger than Whitman was when she was filmed, aged 26, playing the character in the summer of last year – is distraught to discover that she is considered ‘the DUFF’. Even the explanation of her neighbor “Wes” Rush, played by Robbie Amell, that ‘the DUFF’ is just less popular and more accessible than others in the social group, rather than necessarily ugly or fat, does not prevent her anguish.

So, Bianca seeks Wes’s help in ridding herself of her, well, DUFF-ness. To find out whether she succeeds, you can download the movie through iTunes. Before doing that, though, you could read the current issue of AppleMagazine to learn more about the movie. Through your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you can gain immediate access to this issue if you simply subscribe now. You can then look forward to a new issue of AppleMagazine, including movie reviews, every week!
