With every current Mac model on display and free to use at Tekserve’s 23rd Street retail location, their team was perfectly equipped to measure install times as soon as OS X Mavericks was released as a download from Apple’s Mac App Store.
Unsurprisingly, the latest Macs that feature SSDs (Solid State Drives) were significantly faster in completing the upgrade than previous years’ models. Older devices with standard hard drives took the longest–sometimes twice as long as Macs with SSDs.

Although most upgrades go off without a hitch, Tekserve always recommends their customers practice good upgrade habits. Mac owners should check that their apps and accessories are compatible with Mavericks and back up their data before upgrading.
