The Apple press event is almost coming to an end and as expected, the iPhone 5 has arrived. In most ways, the design of the phone itself looks just like photos leaked on the internet over the past few months. In an overview, the majority of the exciting new features are focused on the new 4″ screen, 4G LTE connectivity, lighter and thinner body, camera features, and display.
In 2007, Time Magazine called it the phone that “changed phones forever.”
Lets see how in 2012 the iPhone 5 changes the world:
> 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the 4S
> New 4″ screen withe 1136×640 pixels with a new 16×9 aspect ratio
> 5th row of icons to home screen
> Now there’s a full 5-day week view in calendar. Also iWork apps all re-done to work with the bigger display
> 4G LTE capability. LTE has a single chip for voice and data, single radio chip, and a “dynamic antenna” that started with the iPhone 4S, and can now switch antenna connections between different networks.
> Widescreen movies look better; 44% more color saturation than iPhone 4S
> New 9 pin connector called “Lightning” will replace 10-year-old 30 pin connector from 2003
> Wireless capabilities: 802.11 a/b/g/n, 802.11n 2.4GHz & 5GHz up to 150Mbps
> New A6 chip 2x faster than the old A5 chip included in the 4S
> Phone BLACK OR WHITE. the aluminum finish is different on the white and black models: silver for white, slate for black
> New image signal processor in the A6 chip, does spatial noise reduction, with a “smart filter,” something that produces better low-light performance and captures photos faster
> New “sapphire crystal” and “precision lens alignment” on camera. Now allows for panoramic photos to be taken
> Front camera: Now FaceTime HD camera with 720p support, backside illuminated sensor, and FaceTime works over 3G with iOS 6.
> Audio system: three microphones (up from 2) one on the bottom, one on the front, and one on the back
> September 19th the new iOS 6 operating system will be launched
