December 10, 2019, marked the introduction of Apple’s Pro Display XDR, a high-end monitor that has remained unchanged for four years. Recently, there has been growing speculation about a new version in development.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shed light on Apple’s plans in December 2022, revealing efforts to create multiple new monitors, including a refreshed Pro Display XDR with an Apple silicon chip. This update would follow the path of Apple’s Studio Display, which boasts an A13 Bionic chip powering features like Center Stage, spatial audio, and integrated “Siri”/”Hey Siri” capabilities.

Further insights came in July 2023 from Gurman, who confirmed Apple’s continued work on several next-gen monitors, eyeing a 2024 release at the earliest. He hinted that one of these could serve as a smart home display in a low-power mode.

Although specific features for the upcoming Pro Display XDR remain unconfirmed, users are eagerly anticipating potential additions such as a webcam, speakers, and an enhanced refresh rate.

The existing Pro Display XDR showcases a 32-inch display with LED backlighting, 6K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, a Thunderbolt 3 port, and three USB-C ports.
