Sony is offering PlayStation 4 owners who want to try out Apple TV+ services an extended three-month free trial on their console, as long as they aren’t already active subscribers.
The cross-promotion doesn’t end there. Sony and Apple are continuing to make available their offer of a six-month free trial of Apple TV+ for PlayStation 5 users, having debuted this promotion last summer. Both the PS4 and PS5 offer are available to users until July 22, 2022 – then, the price of an Apple TV+ subscription will be back to $4.99 a month for everyone.
Offering such a promotion to those who have a PS4 as well as a PS5 – albeit, with the free-trial period halved for those with the older console – widens the pool of people who qualify for the deal. The PS5 has consistently been hit by supply shortages, with shipments slowing to a trickle again after the holiday season. PS4 consoles, however, are much more widely installed, and are still shipped in 2022.
All that PS4 users need to do to claim their free three-month trial is download the Apple TV+ app on their console, confirm that they want to redeem the free trial offer, sign in with an Apple ID or create a new account, and then enjoy the very best entertainment Apple TV+ has to offer.
PS4 users who are considering downloading should be aware of a few things. Firstly, unless the subscription is cancelled, it is set up to auto-renew at $4.99 a month at the end of the free trial. Secondly, anyone who already has an active Apple TV+ subscription can’t claim the free trial.
Now is the perfect time to claim! After all, Tim Cook announced at Apple’s Peek Performance event last week that “Friday Night Baseball” coverage is coming to Apple TV+ (presuming the Major League Baseball season goes ahead), and a wide range of original movies has been scheduled for release on the platform in 2022.
