Thunderbolt Display Shipping Delays Suggest New Model Soon

Is Apple preparing to debut a new version of its 27-inch Thunderbolt Display? This has been suggested by recent shipping delays for the current model in many European countries.

The German site Macerkopf observes that, in many parts of Europe, there is now an 8-day wait for the arrival of new Thunderbolt Display orders from the Apple Online Store. However, the external monitor, which is compatible with a wide range of Macs, is still readily available in various other countries, including the United States and Canada.

Often, extended shipping times for a specific product can indicate that Apple is preparing to release a new version. However, since 2011, when Apple last updated the Thunderbolt Display, the productā€™s stock has fallen on several occasions only to recover without a new model emerging.

Therefore, we probably shouldnā€™t be quick to read too much into these delays ā€“ though a Retina, 5K-resolution Thunderbolt Display, like the display panel of the larger iMac, would certainly be welcome.
