Trademark Applications Hint at 4 Extra Beats Radio Stations

Apple has applied to trademark the word marks B2, B3, B4 and B5, along with corresponding logos bearing strong similarity to that of its globally broadcast Beats 1 radio station. This suggests that Apple is readying to launch an additional four radio stations under the Beats brand.

These four applications were made to the US Patent and Trademark Office in November and noticed by the French website Consomac. The “Goods and Services” that all four marks, which have yet to be approved as trademarks, are listed under include those relating to broadcasting and streaming music.

In August, The Verge reported that Apple had signed agreements with music labels permitting it to launch up to five additional radio stations without having to renegotiate with these labels. It is probable that Apple plans for different stations each focusing on a more specific audience or genre than Beats 1, which is intended to play an eclectic range of music.
