After Tim Cook attended his first state dinner with President Trump yesterday, he now plans to spend one more day in Washington D.C. and he is set to have a private meeting with the President tomorrow at the White House.
Reports suggest that Cook sat at the head table at the dinner, just as he did at President Obama’s Chinese state dinner in 2015.
Trump’s public schedule was shared in a Tweet yesterday by Daniel Dale, Washington correspondent for theĀ Toronto Star.Ā His schedule included a meeting with Cook set to take place at 1:45pm, before a press briefing at 2pm.Ā It is unclear what the pair will discuss, although many have speculated the topic of the meeting. It could cover immigration, environment, or even tax reform.
This won’t be the first time the President has met with Cook as he was among a number of technology executives who attended a panel to discussĀ modernizing the US government last year. Many have criticised Cook for meeting with Trump, however, in the past he has commented:
āPersonally, Iāve never found being on the sideline a successful place to be. The way that you influence these issues is to be in the arena.Ā I think itās very important to do that because you donāt change things by justĀ yelling. You change things by showing everyone why your way is the best. In many ways, itās a debate of ideas.ā
