tvOS 10 to Add Single Sign-on, Improve Search on Apple TV

The next significant release of the fourth generation Apple TV’s operating system, tvOS, will arrive in the fall with a wealth of new features, including single sign-on, better search and a dark mode.

Single sign-on will enable Apple TV users to sign in once and immediately get access across all of their network apps. Searching content will become easier too; Siri will be able to search YouTube and movies when you ask for content in a specific category like “80s comedies”.

On the subject of Siri, Apple has also made a new Remote app for iPhone. This will enable Apple TV owners to use their iPhone much like the Siri Remote. There will also be – as pictured above – a dark mode, with a system-wide dark grey interface, for tvOS.

Developers will get ReplayKit, PhotoKit and HomeKit APIs for further integrating core tvOS features into their apps. Developers will also be the first to get tvOS 10 as a beta today; for customers, the release will arrive as a free update in the fall.
