The Precision Finding feature, first introduced with the launch of Apple’s AirTag in 2021, uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology to allow iPhones to locate trackers with high accuracy and provide guidance to their exact location on a map. The same UWB technology, available on the latest iPhone models, will now be used in tvOS 17 to locate the Apple TV 4K Siri Remote.
The Siri Remote was redesigned last year, with a shift from a thin glass body to a more durable all-aluminum casing and physical controls. The new design was intended to make the remote easier to locate, and with the introduction of Precision Finding in tvOS 17, users will be able to find the remote even in hidden places, such as under a bed, inside a kitchen cabinet, or even in a dollhouse.
Alongside Precision Finding, tvOS 17 also brings macOS Continuity Camera integration, offering FaceTime with SharePlay and Center Stage support. It provides an immersive Apple Music Sing experience on Apple TV 4K, allowing users to view themselves on screen and apply filters.
Apple also updated the tvOS 17 Control Center with a minimalist design to display settings and information.
