Twitter Announces GIF Search Feature for iOS App and Website

Few things, it seems, can capture your mood at a given moment quite like a carefully chosen GIF. That’s why many Twitter users should be delighted to know that the social media site is now rolling out a new feature for searching for GIFs to include in both Tweets and Direct Messages.

When writing on Twitter, you will be able to hit the new GIF button to look through a GIF gallery. In today’s blog post announcing the feature, Twitter says that you will be able to search by either keyword or selecting categories of different reactions – including Happy Dance, YOLO or Mic Drop.

You might have to wait a bit before you can use the feature – as Twitter says that, from today, GIF search will be gradually introduced across the globe “over the coming weeks”. The GIFs will come from Twitter partners GIPHY and Riffsy, and it’ll doubtless be fun to see them as GIF search expands in availability on the Twitter website and iOS and Android apps.
