The new website has a brand new look that is modern, clean, and app-like, and now includes supports for bookmarks so you can save your favorite tweets for future access.
A new Explore page now provides more insights into what’s trending and recommends both content and users you might be interested in, in a vein some have compared to Facebook.
Design-wise, the new desktop experience looks similar to Twitter’s mobile apps.
The company has promised to release a new macOS app this September as part of Apple’s Project Catalyst program.
It will be ported off of the iPadOS version of the Twitter app.
Back to the new desktop experience, and account switching makes its way to the web for the first time.
Now, users can manage multiple accounts via one log-in, in the same way as they do on iOS and Android.
Also new is Dim and Dark Mode Lights Out options, and a whole host of new color options have been introduced to personalize profiles.
Twitter has also made it easier to follow conversations, with new conversation threading.
Lists have been improved with the new Twitter experience and now have a dedicated tab on the home screen for the first time, a huge benefit to power users following many accounts.
Some users are able to opt into the new look today, whilst others will receive access soon.
“New features and a new look are launching soon. Bookmarks, account switching, dark mode, and so much more — before long, you’ll be able to see what’s happening even faster,” the company says on its website.
Twitter has been working on an updated web experience for a while, so it’s good to see the new features finally roll out across the web. What are your thoughts? Let us know on Twitter using @AppleMagazine and check back soon for more social media news and rumors.
