Many users of the Twitter app on iPads paired with Bluetooth keyboards or Smart Keyboards can now use these keyboards to more quickly start new tweets, switch between tabs and more.
Yesterday, Twitter’s iOS app was updated to version 6.59, but the brief release notes make no mention of the addition of shortcuts for physical keyboards. 9to5Mac says that the functionality was actually first publicly pointed out by an iOS engineer, Amro Mousa, on Twitter…

While holding down the command key on such keyboards does bring up – on paired, compatible devices – a small information box indicating a number of shortcuts, not all of the available shortcuts seem to be listed there. Thankfully, Mousa has tweeted a few of the unspecified ones.
So, pressing command and N brings up the text entry box for starting a new tweet, while command and W enables you to close that box. Meanwhile, holding down command and pressing numbers 1-5 lets you flick through the Home, Notifications, Moments, Messages and Me views.
The Twitter iOS app is free for both iPhones and iPads, while the support for these keyboard shortcuts is, according to 9to5Mac, available for iPads on iOS 9 or higher.
