For those people who consider themselves gaming fans, we really do live in a golden age and there is always something new just around the corner.
The new generation of consoles has been with us for some time now, and this means that they may be approaching their potential. Often, the classic games released on a console are toward the end of their lifespan and this could be the case with some of the upcoming releases. On top of that, people play games in a lot of ways now, and casino games are an example where there are new releases virtually every week. Those who play livecasino games will already know that there are regular developments and new titles or updates in these games, too. It isn’t just console games where we see things changing constantly.
2024 and 2025 game releases
Let’s look into some of the biggest upcoming games and the sorts of features they may offer players. The rest of 2024 and 2025 are stacked with releases and while nobody knows which will flop and which will become huge household names, it seems inevitable that these games will be the talk of the gaming community for a while.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Sequels often have a lot of hype around them, especially if the earlier versions of the game have been popular. This is the case with S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl, an upcoming FPS survival horror video game made by Ukrainian game developer GSC Game World. Rather than being the second, this is the fourth game released in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video game series, and it has been 15 years since a game was released in the franchise.
This game has seen a lot of delays but it is likely to be with us by the end of the year, and fans will be looking forward to development finally being finished. The release was originally planned for 2012 but the game was put on hold.
The game has one of the biggest open worlds that has ever featured in a game! According to Xbox’s site: “The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone is a unique, dangerous and ever-changing environment. It promises a lot — the artifacts of unbelievable value can be yours if you dare to claim them. The price you may pay, on the other hand, is no less than your own life.”
Fable
A full-blown reboot is often something that gets a lot of people talking, and this is likely to be the case with Fable. The Fable gaming franchise hasn’t seen anything new for 14 years but players will be keen to see how the reboot works. It follows Humphry, a character who has to stop a mysterious group of bad guys, but we don’t know much more than that.
If prior Fable games are anything to go by, then it is likely we’ll see a lot of tough bad guys and fairytale imagery in this game. Their previous RPGs were known for pushing the boundaries but an awful lot has changed since the early days.
The older games are available to play, and Fable’s storyline still stacks up, even in 2024. People may even choose to run it on an emulator similar to the upcoming iOS emulators that will allow people to play PC games from their iPads with ease.
GTA VI
What can we say about the Grand Theft Auto series? It’s over a decade since the last game, and the fans are still waiting eagerly. Of course, the online modes of GTA V mean that many people are actively playing every day.
This version of the game takes players back to the familiar spot of Vice City, but while 2006’s Vice City game was based in the 1980s, this one is likely to be more of a modern-day game. People have been speculating for some time, and there were even some development leaks after many years of radio silence.
It has been described as a “Bonnie and Clyde-style story” and the lead characters seem to be a couple, Jason and Lucia. The gameplay leaks also seem to show that these two are the only playable characters, after GTA V saw us jump between three. Lucia will be the first playable female lead in the main game (online people can be whatever gender they please).
One thing is for sure, this game is going to break all the records. It is already the most expensive game ever made and we’ll be most surprised if it isn’t the fastest-selling upon its release.
Death Stranding 2
Death Stranding 2 was previewed in the State of Play presentation in May and this led to a lot of people talking about the game, which follows Sam Porter Bridges (the same protagonist as the first).
The original Death Stranding got a lot of people talking, and its creator, Hideo Kojima, has gained a cult following as a result. This is slated for 2025 release but we don’t know exactly when it is likely to come out. It is more ambitious than the first game but seems to follow the same characters and themes. Plenty of players will be ready for this one when it hits the consoles!
Games with the huge name of a franchise behind them are often likely to be successful and popular. With GTA VI promising to be one of the biggest games ever, there is already a lot of talk about the next year or so of gaming, and many of these titles are likely to become huge sellers. Whether they’re flops or classics, though, only time will tell.
