US Penetration of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Meets 40%

How many iPhone users in the US have upgraded to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus since those phones were unveiled last fall? More than might have been expected, judging from figures recently released by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, or CIRP.

These figures show that, of about 94 million iPhones nationally, 25 million are iPhone 6 phones and another 13 million are the iPhone 6 Plus model. This means that the iPhone 6 line has achieved a national penetration rate of 40%. The rapid rate will have delighted Apple CEO Tim Cook, who has reported that his company is “seeing a higher rate of people switching to iPhone than we’ve experienced in previous cycles”.

This rate is likely to become higher in approaching months, as CIRP data also reveals that there remain 56 million iPhones that have not yet been upgraded, including iPhone 5S and 4S models. The new models certainly seem to have helped Apple to boost its challenge against the Android competition.
